West Butte Investments is an investment holding company structured as a closed-end fund, principally engaged in acquiring ownership interests in a concentrated portfolio of public and private businesses.
Our strategy is centered on minimizing the risk of permanent capital impairment first, with long-term appreciation as the consequence of asymmetric opportunity selection. Our disciplined underwriting approach seeks opportunities with a large margin of safety, where we believe market prices and sentiment have fallen substantially below underlying value.
Where we invest
We invest exclusively in U.S. public companies, with an emphasis on small and mid-cap businesses where market price can deviate substantially from underlying value. Positions are concentrated and generally held for years.
We acquire American businesses, farmland, and other productive assets. Investments include California agricultural land, construction material companies, and local redevelopment projects, including those involving municipal TIF and public-private financing structures.
